Hastings & St.Leonards 4 v Bexhill
-
Rather astonishingly we won the match tonight, which at the time most of you left with the score at 1 – 2, looked rather unlikely.Just before 10pm, I managed to get to an advantageous opposite coloured bishop end game. He put his bishop on a very poor square, and I was able to guarantee a queened pawn when he resigned. So 2 – 2.Adrian was fine, but John created a 2 pawn advantage on the wing which looked like could not be stopped. Adrian threw a pawn up the centre of the board, and with a great tactical move, forced John into a very difficult position where he could easily have been mated. Forced to think of a way out of it, he ran out of time.So a 3-2 win. Very well done everyone for a great team effort.Next game is away to Horsham in March, so a breather. But we now do have a good chance of gaining promotion, with one of our rivals (Worthing 4) being our last game in April.ATBGary
